Location Section Walkthrough written summary
Location or Geo targeting is one of the items that is required before you can launch your line item. Here you have three options when it comes to setting this.
The first tab is GeoFence - This means you will target users within the exact area of your selection, as it would appear on a map.
Simply type 3 or more letters into the box to search for a city / region / or country and select from a list of results from the Taxonomy. You can add as many locations as you like here.
If you have a large number of entries, you can also upload a list of 2 letter country codes via a csv file here.
The next tab is PinPoints - This means you can target users in a radius set around any pinpoint you place on the map.
To add a pinpoint simply type into the box to search for your location, this search is powered by google so it allows you to search for whatever you like, any place name, postcode or lat-long and select it from the list.
Next you need to choose the radius around the location in which you would like to target users. Choose from ‘This area only’ which will set a 1 mile radius up to 100 miles.
This will plot the radius around your pin on the map for you, and if you zoom out, you will be able to see the area that you will be targeting with this selection. Once you are happy click the include button to add this to your line item.
You can only use one of the Geo targeting tabs per line item, so if you already have location targeting set up and switch tabs adding a new selection, you will see this warning and be asked to confirm this change. You can go without losing your original selection by clicking ‘No thanks I'll keep what I have’ or confirm your change by clicking ‘Ok sounds good’. This will remove your previous selection and saves your new setup.
Again you can add as many pin point locations as you like here. You can also zoom into and area to search for and add multiple locations, like Sainsburys stores for example. And you can also upload a csv file with a list of Lat Longs with a Radius here.
There is a Location Template available to download here that shows you how to format this data for upload.
The last tab in the Location section is Postal or Zip Code.
To add a list of postcodes, first you need to search for and select the country your postcodes are in, then you can either type the postcodes into the box or upload a csv list.
If you are adding postcodes for the UK or Canada, we accept Postcode Districts, so please add the first section of these rather than full postcodes. Please ensure you format these correctly or your line item will not deliver.
If you are using geo targeting with small radius selections, or postcode targeting, you should try not to restrict your delivery by adding too many other targeting types, as the location of the user is your priority here.
Once your Location setup is complete you can close this section to see the summary of your settings.
